Context

In an era of increasing financial complexity, many individuals struggle to understand and calculate their tax obligations. This challenge is particularly pronounced in Nigeria, where the tax system can vary significantly from one state to another. Taxbuddy aims to tackle this issue by providing a user-friendly and accessible solution for tax calculation and financial management.

The project was conceived in response to the growing need for simplified tax tools that cater to a diverse user base, ranging from young adults entering the workforce to seasoned professionals and retirees. By focusing on both employed and self-employed individuals, Taxbuddy seeks to demystify the tax calculation process and promote better financial literacy among Nigerian citizens.

Key Problems to Address

1. Complex Tax Calculations: Simplifying the process of calculating taxes across different Nigerian states, accounting for variations in tax rates and regulations.
2. Financial Literacy: Addressing the lack of understanding about tax obligations and financial management among diverse age groups and professions.
3. Accessibility: Overcoming the challenge of creating a user-friendly interface that caters to a wide range of users, from tech-savvy young adults to less technologically proficient older individuals.

As a UX/UI designer, my role in this project was to create an intuitive, informative, and visually appealing interface that could guide users through the complexities of tax calculation while providing valuable insights for financial decision-making. The challenge lay in balancing simplicity with comprehensive functionality, ensuring that the app remained accessible to users of all ages and technological proficiencies.

My Design process

My design process began with understanding the user group for whom I am creating this solution. Once I achieved that, I confidently moved on to designing the product to align with the expectations of all the criteria set by the user groups.
